| Here is a thought for ya AT&T..... Heres a thought AT&T, if you want to boost sales and DSL subscribers, why not add some POPS in rural areas that you have ignored for so long???!?!? Sure, you service Appleton, Wisconsin with DSL, UVERSE, etc. but just drive 20 miles out of Appleton and you offer NOTHING except OLD copper lines that deliver less than 20Kbaud.
Drop a RT in the area and see what happens!!!!

| EXACTLY! Im barely even in the country... less then 5 miles away is DOWNTOWN! And right behind my house is a community (ever heard the song called china grove?) They got DSL and cable! Its farther putting dsl or cable over there then it is for me and then att is telling me I got to be 3 miles away from a CO and time warner wants me to pay them so they can bring their lines down. HELLO! There are other people living here too! I can understand not putting dsl or cable lines in the middle of nowhere, But we have been waiting and waiting for years for anything! I just had to vent on this one. |

The mean old telcos should spend thousands for a single home miles away from everything and just eat the costs, huh?
Lock you in at a way cheap price so that they have to wait probably decades to break even.
Do you really think they will do this for you? Call them and ask.

Well, either way, you chose to live away from "things", it's just that one of those "things" was high speed internet.
That cannot be pushed onto the providers, they have to see the sub as profitable or no service will be provided.

2 edits | Don't whine to us about it, then, get a petition going where you are to get another DSLAM installed that lets you get DSL.
I've noticed you love to harp on about wasted bandwidth and money, and it's the most pointless thing anyone could say here. I'll give you a few nibbles of knowledge to shut you up about this; DSL or cable can give you more than twice the speed of even the highest tier of satellite service for the same price as the LOWEST tiers. There's no wasted money here. If you don't want to waste bandwidth, get a second phone line with dial-up. You can turn it on or off whenever you need it, no "wasting". You're seriously trying to convince us there's "wasted bandwidth" involved when satellite internet is, like any other broadband, also considered (though it isn't, I know) "always-on"? Try harder if you're gonna keep it up. It's getting ridiculous. |

look when i moved where i live was in 1988.there was no internet.have any of you tried to sell a house lately,my house has been up for sale for 2 years with no luck
nobody wants to buy a house without internet,cell,or cable service,so moving is out of the question until i sell my house.It is easy for you all to say just move try to put your house up for sale and sell it without giving it away it wont happen with the economy the way it is
so yea you all better count your blessings to be able to get decent internet,and quit rubbing it in to us less fortunate that you cant use your 3 meg connection its to slow give me a break |
