This may be posted already, but the IT department where my wife works (major international company) sent a note telling workers that Chrome has security problems and not to d/l it. No details, of course, so I was wondering if that's out for information? Thanks in advance! Dan -- "What we do in life echoes in eternity." |

1 edit | reply to gate1975mlm Next capability I want to see is profiles and signin capability. Download and install Google browser anywhere, sign in to Google browser with my Gmail ID, all of my favorites are ported into the browser so that I can use them. Incorporate profiles that are selectable when signing in, so I get my work bookmarks at work and personal bookmarks at home, friend's house, etc.
This capability is already available in Firefox through a plugin, but I'd like to see it innate in Chrome. |

4 edits | reply to gate1975mlm Chrome seems to allow quite a few simultaneous connections to a server. I like to test with »www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=NBB
The page has 300 - 400 individual elements and really shows how well a browser handles simultaneous connections. IE, for example, is terribly slow loading the page without hacking the registry, being limited to just two simultaneous connections by default.
Chrome will install and run in a limited account for anyone who wants to create an account just for testing. Just delete the account if you want to be rid of Chrome and its autoupdate program. I wish it were as easy with IE8 beta. That thing is a total system hack just to give it a whirl. Need that-there virtual world for tryin' it.
I'm still leery of a Google made browser. Time will tell. This thing is fast so I hope it turns out good. IE6 still wins hands down when it comes to memory. Even multiple windows don't create the memory usage of every tabbed browser to date. Chrome seems to be no exception.
Has anyone figured out how to manage the skin on this thing? It would be nice if it just matched Windows. And what is up with "restrict how third party cookies can be used"? Can't just block them? Restricted in what way? My suspicious mind is wandering, Google. |

Maybe you need to install Java or something else like that it depends on. I have the 6u10 Java installed, which is what the Chrome Help says has to be installed for Java to work right in Chrome. Normally in the About, you should see a thing at the bottom that says "Checking for updates" and then a message either that its up to date or that there's a new update available. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone Not agreeing with them. 1 edit | said by ZZZZZZZ :Still testing it for fun and just noticed 4 chrome.exe processes running. Anyone else have this many? Chrome uses a separate process for every tab you open. This way tabs that are acting up can be terminated without taking down the whole program. Chrome has its own Task Manager that you can open by hitting Shift+Escape in Chrome. From there you can terminate a tab. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone Not agreeing with them. It's The non-thinkers that ALWAYS come in legions." -John Callari |

| reply to gate1975mlm From what I understand, each tab in Chrome runs as a separate process. That way if one tab crashes it doesn't affect the others. Also, they say that although having individual processes for each tab takes a bit more memory you get all the memory back when you close a tab unlike FF which may not release all the memory back. -- Black is the absence of light, but white is the absence of memory, the color of can't remember.
