| reply to gate1975mlm Has anyone noticed they spawn two processes in the host OS and then seem to spread the load across the two for rendering? They then spawn an additional per tab, but still spread the load. I wonder if that is how they achieve multi-threading?
I can't wait to test this with our web application. It's an AJAX app that will bring any machine to it's knees when lots of tickers are loaded. -- Linux Haters Unite! |

| reply to gate1975mlm It is very fast indeed.

Uses IE proxy settings. Convenient, didn't have to teach Chrome how to go through privoxy.

Does not import, and does not offer to import, Mozilla html bookmarks files.
I have IE7, SeaMonkey, Opera, and K-Meleon. Chrome only offered to import the IE favorites. Being that I've only used IE to hit Windows Update, those favorites have never been touched.
Its options dialog is even more sparse than Firefox's.

Also couldn't find a way to rid it of the Vista-style Min/Restore/Close buttons.

I give it a 4/10. -- The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon profitable cause... |

Does anyone have a memory/cpu usage comparison to other browsers Yes. Someone previously already compared memory usage.
It's bound to end up using more memory IMO, due to spawning extra processes. No worries. I've got two gig, most of which goes to waste anyway.
I think I'll use Chrome like a Mozilla Prism/Webrunner on steroids. Being made by Google it should be the ideal browser for using Google services like GMail, Docs, Calendar, etc.
And then I'll use SeaMonkey for everything else. -- The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon profitable cause... |

1 edit | reply to lilhurricane said by lilhurricane :GoogleUpdater as a service? No thank you I saw no proper service listed in the services window, but did spy a GoogleUpdate process running in the background, even after closing Chrome.

Also very odd - after installing Chrome, I can no longer open IE. It crashes immediately. Not that I use IE, but that's still just not right.

| reply to gate1975mlm I'm not able to get to G-Mail in Chrome. Anyone else experiencing this? It may be work proxy-related, but I can get to G-Mail in Firefox and I.E. I've deleted cookies, disabled popup blocking, and everything else I can think of. It just takes me to a blank page rather than the G-Mail login screen. The same happens if I go to google.com and click Sign In at top right. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone Not agreeing with them. | reply to gate1975mlm Fast, yes, and clean, I like that.
But how can I do this, which I do with firefox:
I want to launch to a blank page, since most of the time, if the browser is not already open, I am opening it to do something specific. I also want to have six tabs come up as my home pages, but only when I hit the home button, not on launch. I can do one or the other, I think, but not both. -- USNG: 16TDN2870 Find your Lat-Long: Geocoder |
