Apparently it will ONLY import from Firefox and IE. Users of other browsers are screwed. If Firefox is not installed it will only offer to import IE favorites. I'd like to see what Google plans to do with this, tho. |

Well, Mozilla's final release (1.7.13) was in April of 2006, almost 2.5 years ago, so perhaps they considered it a deprecated browser and that's why they didn't create the possibility to import from it. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone Not agreeing with them. | reply to gate1975mlm Interesting reading some of the thoughts around the wb. They range from "this is the best thing since pizza" to "beware the attack of the spider monkey". It is the 1st beta and will be in beta for years if standard Google paterns hold true. Doubt I will ever try this because to me Google is just a search engine and that is all I need them for. If they bar my browser no biggy as there are other search engines worthy of my viewing. -- Bowling: It's cleaner than baseball. |

I uninstalled Chrome and GoogleUpdate.exe is still around and it still phones home to check for updates. As far as I know, the only way to "uninstall" it is to remove the registry entries for it manually and uncheck the msconfig run at start up option, on top of deleting the exe. Is there a real way to uninstall this that I'm missing? |

Mozilla suite's not the only browser to use html bookmarks. Firefox did up til 3, and can still export to the format. And SeaMonkey's still alive and kicking. It's quite common among alternative browsers (even outside the Mozilla family) to export, if not outright use, html bookmarks.
There's no good reason for Chrome to disable the importing of HTML bookmarks if Firefox is not installed.
Hrm, or does it import directly from FF3's sqlite database? CAN it read HTML bookmarks at all? Has anyone imported bookmarks from 2.x? -- The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon profitable cause... |

1 edit | reply to gate1975mlm I can't get into the G-Mail standard HTML version either (»https://mail.google.com/mail/h/).
Strangely, if I right-click I can view source on the blank white page and get the source:
For whatever reason, it just won't render this into a webpage. I don't get it. I guess it can't be a proxy issue if I'm getting the source. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone Not agreeing with them. It's The non-thinkers that ALWAYS come in legions." -John Callari |
