You can get to this by specifying an IP or by disconnecting the cable line from the back of the modem and release/renewing a bunch till you get a funky ip from the modem.

Also, make sure you are using the newest modem... the difference between an old Terayon modem and the new Surfboards is amazing, and it's because the old Terayons didn't fully support Docsis 2.0 protocols..

anon : i suggest when u phone, specifically ask about upstream & downstram SNR. i had about 50% download speeds, upload was horrible max 67kbs - 220kbs (on extreme). turns out noise in the line on upstream SNR was causing all the problems. a guy came out, found & fixed the problem a few blocks away, and now(on a saturated node) downloads consistent 70%+ of max, uploads also a consistent 70%+ of max. (i have the surfboard SB5102 modem). this issue affected my entire neibourhood, but because the tsr dispatched a "maintenace tech" (whatever that is) rather than a service guy, my problem, and the neibourhoods was fixed.

CogitoSum : Call in and ask specifically for them to check the saturation on your node. If the tech you talk to seems unable to do this, call in again. I know it's a bit of a pain, but the tool which allows TSRs and others to check node saturation isn't available to everyone, and especially not newer people.

Should the TSR find node saturation, then they will escalate it up to the appropriate departments who will start the process of splitting the node or, in large scale issues, the router. While the voice of several people never hurts, Shaw tends to be quite good at responding to saturation issues simply through their discovery, rather than through necessity driven by customer complaint.
