| reply to Abiosis Re: [TWC] 15/2 speed tier in SoCal yet???
said by Abiosis :said by maartena :said by Abiosis :spendin' same amount of $$$ monthly and get less... No, you are spending the same amount of money you did one year ago, and you get the same speed as one year ago. You did not get any less, you speed did not get reduced. You bet I could careless what you said... stop quotin' people with your non-sense... and please don't try to act like you know everythin' cause you're not obviously~~~ Perhaps you should learn to write proper English before you go and insult people. We're not in "da hood" here.
Ontopic: Unless they actually took speed AWAY like they did with punker, you really aren't getting any less then you did about a year ago, you just haven't been upgraded yet. |

@rr.com | reply to SoCalResident1 You CAN get 15/2 service in Los Angeles... you just have to pay for their "home business" service at $99/month. I'm in Sherman Oaks and have their 15/2 service and it works as advertised. |

@rr.com | reply to SoCalResident1 In Lancaster here...have been getting 15/2 for quite some time on Turbo. After the little outage tonight (about 2 hours?), it's back to 10/1. How ridiculous. |

| In Palmdale I was getting 10/1 since about Christmas, then was reduced back to 6000/512, and for the last week or so I've been getting about 20/512. No idea what these people are trying to do:

@rr.com
| reply to SoCalResident1 Probably a constant 20/512. I had that for a while too. Was actually getting a solid 21-22mbit for a week or so. Then something broke (had 3 different tech. come out and escalated to supe) and I went down to getting 1.5-2/512. At one point, I was getting an 80kbit download stream. Lasted for about a day and a half.
Still capped at 10/1 today after a few reboots. |

| reply to SoCalResident1 Well, for an update:
And before you call me crazy, let me preface my post by stating I'm about to use Time Warner and quality customer service all in the same sentence...you've been warned.
Time Warner actually gave me some quality customer service! About 5 minutes ago, I received a follow-up call from a local supervisor inquiring as to the speed and reliability of my connection! I guess there's a first for everything.
Anyway, I asked about the 15/2 that the original tech. had mentioned, and the slated completion date for those upgrades is March 6. We should currently be getting 10/1 in the Antelope Valley and should be 15/2 by March 6. That somewhat goes along with what the last tech. told me, however a week later than what he thought. So 15/2 is on the way for Turbo users up here. If I can get 20-ish mbits like I was, I'll be fairly pleased. |

4 edits | reply to djrobx said by djrobx :Is that a constant 20mbps or PowerBoost? It's "constant" although I don't always get that throughput. In the light hours (early morning, etc.) it's pretty reliably that speed (actually often as high as 22 like Alcahuete mentioned). In the evening you'll run a few tests, one will be 6-8 and then a half-hour later you could get 12, 14 or even the 20. Like I said, I have no idea what these guys are doing and as far as I understand I'm paying for 6 (or maybe 10/1 with the supposed upgrade going around). By the way, I haven't requested nor have I been told anything about "powerboost"--in fact, I haven't done anything whatsoever regarding any change in the service. I'm enjoying it while it's here--hope it lasts!
Another thing: when I had the 10/1 my upload was faster than it is now even with this great download speed--only getting 512 up even now, of course. -- If the law supposes that, said Mr. Bumble, . . . the law is a assa idiot. |

| reply to SoCalResident1 well a few days ago they downgraded my speeds from 15/2 to 10/1.. then yesterday brought it back to 15/2.. ever since the IP change from the 67.xxx.xxx.xxx to 98.xxx.xxx.xxx ive lost about 300 kbits on the upload end... i was getting a solid 1940 upload now its a solid 1600-1700. nothing much to complain about but i wouldnt want to see my speeds to continuously deteriorate |

| I am in Mentone, CA. (right next to San Bernardino). I just ordered RR yesterday to be installed next Tues. They just installed the fiber lines about 3 months ago and the lady at TWC said I would be getting between 12-15/2 due to the fact I am on a new network. Is this correct? I ordered the Turbo plan. What is power boost? Also I have been hearing a lot of people mention Opendns.com. Should I do this right when I get my new service? Thanks for the help. |

| reply to Alcahuete I hope 15/2 does return, and that we get at least 1.8Mbit on that 2mbit upload. It's silly to roll out 15/2 then take it away, then pull it back to 8/512, but right now anyway, we're at 10/1 where we should be, and we can only hope that 15 meg down/2 meg up may come to stay. I'm in Lancaster BTW. |

"sometimes noise can get in the cable line and cause the computers "nodes " to reset the configs"

Still the same here in La Puente (upload really sucks today). Maybe will take them a few years to upgrade this area back to 15/2! |

1 edit | reply to SoCalResident1 Seems to be getting better here in Antelope Valley. This kind of performance doesn't seem to be a problem now even during peak hours. Upload is same 512 but has been consistent all along:
