| reply to SoCalResident1 Re: [TWC] 15/2 speed tier in SoCal yet???
I might be moving in the coming months to an area that is served by Charter Communications, Verizon DSL, or Verizon FIOS as the viable options. If you think TWC is bad, try Charter. I hear nothing but nightmares about them from friends who use their service (both internet and CATV). FIOS would be cool, but just a freaking headache to install and get everything working properly. And Verizon DSL, OH HELL NO!!! |

@rr.com | reply to SoCalResident1 A few days late, but so far so good. Getting 19mbit down. Only about 1.3 up today and around 1.6 up last night, but I guess that's not too bad. |

I just saw a commercial for TWC and they're finally promoting Road Runner Turbo with Power Boost and "up to 15M" Has anyone else seen it? |

| What's strange is ... I've been hitting above 10,000kbps here in Valencia, and have been on the 'standard' package which was 6000/512kbps

| reply to SoCalResident1 Over past few weeks, 15/2 has disappeared in Santa Monica 90404; back to 10/1. ( I have also tested at testmy.net with much poorer results.)
Anyone else in West L.A./Santa Monica with similar or getting 15/2?

This speed has been more in line with others except speedtest.net Someone had mentioned in some other post that you should use a speed test that examines sustained speed, like testmy.net Which testing sites are reliable? |

Anyone else in West L.A./Santa Monica with similar or getting 15/2? Same problem in Ventura. I've been paying for top tier for years, had solid 15/2 for many months (with a couple dips in speed here and there), yet now it seems I'm stuck at 10/1.
Oh and naturally just last week I received time warner junk mail addressed to "Our Neighbor" advertising "up to 15/2" service. |

| No reason to 'pay' for 15/2, if all they're selling is the 10/1 (I wouldn't pay for more than the standard, as there's no "real" need for it today, and no real ability to support it by TWC)

| Dunno if this means anything to anyone, but I spent a LONG time on the phone today w/Erin at TWC discussing the possibility of moving from AT&T DSL (where the service and speeds have gotten worse since I first joined up w/pacbell 11 years ago -- i.e. 500Kps down/300 up with my static IP).
She informed me that if you subscribe to their top tier program you are GUARANTEED speeds no lower than 10Mbps and up to 15. Tier Two is guaranteed 6Mbps up to 10, and Tier Three is of course 1.5-6. Having said that, she said that this new Turbo in being slowly implemented in my direction (Studio City, CA) having started up in Ventura County, and now as far south as Northridge. She went on to say that it would be to my area in 2-3 months and that then my Top Tier speeds would be GUARANTEED no lower than 15Mbps.
I offer this to create a picture of what vicinities are supposedly now covered in the LA area, as well as to inquire to all those north of Northridge -- Since Turbo arrived in your area, have you EVER had speeds lower than the guaranteed ones mentioned above? |

| Frankly, I'd take the "guaranteed" speeds thing with a barrel of salt. Did Erin mention what they "guarantee" if they fail to deliver? How is it measured? Can you invoke the "guarantee" by sending them a result from Speedtest.net? Too many unanswered questions. This isn't a go at TW, I doubt if any provider could realistically make that sort of "guarantee". |
