And how do you know all this, punker?

@rr.com
From previous posts, it seems like Punker and MachLeech know something the rest of us don't. Well Punker said that he was told about upgrades by a TWC supervisor.

Well I got some info too on Orange, CA from someone here on the forum..... but because for some obscure reason, as if they were company-secrets, and releasing the information to the public would be disastrous.... I won't give a name.

I do want to say though that it is strange that this kind of information is kept from the users. It is not like it is a trade secret, and actually confirming that speeds are going to be increased may even prevent customers from walking away.

But if a date is given and then needs to be pushed back, the forum would fill up with complaints that said date has come and gone and still no speed increase.

Then they need to schedule smarter. For instance, schedule the speed increase for September 16th, but tell the customers speed will be increased September 30th.

Now if you can't quite get it done on the 16th, but still deliver on the 23d, you will still have happy customers.

I know there are also providers that sell "5 Mbps down, 384 up" internet, but have their modems provisioned for 6/512. This way, you will rarely hear a complaint about speed (as 85% of the provisioned speed is still more then the advertised speed), and if there IS a complaint, it is most likely a VALID one.

I will be happy if the speed increase comes before the holidays for Costa Mesa. It would help me with some of the things that I have to do.

Lol... UPC, the cable ISP of Amsterdam and much of the Netherlands, serving a few million customers.... has announced today that they will be introducing two DOCSIS 3.0 based subscriptions:

60 Mb down, 6 up for 50 Euros ($70)
120 Mb down, 10 up for 85 Euros ($110)

No caps.

These two tiers will be introduced in Amsterdam first later this month, and the rest of the UPC territory will follow later this year and next year.

UPC's area in Holland is comparable to the L.A. area. UPC is a provider in about 10 EU countries or so, and have roughly 30% of the Dutch market.

And wer'e struggling to get something as simple as 15/2.... while the current fastest plan in the Dutch UPC territory is 24 Mbit/s down, 4 Mbit/s up. For less then 40 euros.

There are experts that say that the 20th Century was America's "Golden Age", and that the 21st Century will belong to either China or Europe. They way we are treating bandwidth in the U.S., and the market moving more and more to the Internet..... They may be right.

If 15/2 is good for San Diego and Desert Cities, it should be enough for the rest of us
