That is due to a new gimmick called "powerboost", which pretty much renders your speedtests unusable. Try a sustained download, e.g. the 450 Mb Vista SP1 from microsoft.com, and you will see it will start off very fast, but withing 30 seconds it will stay steady at around 1150 to 1250 kbyte/s, which is the maximum speed of a 10/1 connection.

Since thats what I'm paying for I guess I don't really have much to complain about. Thaks for the insight, I figured that's what it was, just couldn't find any info or explanation for the jump. -- RoadRunner,XP/Vista and my "Linky network"
