| [Connectivity] Awful Speeds and Connectivity - Philadelphia, PA
Hi, I'm a long-time reader, but first time poster.
Within the past few weeks the Comcast connection at my house has degraded to slow-than-DSL speeds. We had a tech out, and he "fixed" the wall-jack that the modem is plugged into. Speed returned, but only for a brief moment. The speeds are back to slow:

A tech came out today and adjusted some settings on the tap outside, moved the modem to the basement where the cable comes in, and boosted the signal with an amplifier. Speedtest still relieved that the connection was slow, and he called in a maintenance team to rewire the tap, and run a new line to my house.
Here is my diagnostic info:
Forward Path: Signal Acquired at 723.000 MHz SNR: 27.0 dB Received Signal Strength: 3.3 dBmV Bit Error Rate: 4.906 % Modulation: 256 QAM
Return Path: Connection: Aquired Frequency: 31.0 MHz Power Level: 46.8 dBmV Channel ID: 3 Modulation: 16 QAM |

SNR is way too low.

@comcast.net | reply to Cbeck527 Thanks for the quick reply. As of right now (10 minutes later) the SNR is at 30.3.
Is there anything that I can do to help fix this, or do I have to wait for the comcast team to dig a new line? |

| Nope, nothing you can fix. probably after the new line is attached, The techs will need to remove the amp, and actually balance the line. (most of the time amps are a bandaid for something else, not fixed/ not balanced. Your TV is probably fine, even if the net is fubar. |

And to my experience, 40 is pretty rare.
Let's say that higher is always better ! |
