In SeaMonkey (Mozilla) I get high CPU usage & Unresponsive Script Warnings when I enable JavaScript (which I usually don't).

Even with JavaScript disabled, the page was a bit of a laggard.

I get the same symptoms & even a similar message (allow me to stop the loading of the scripts) in IE7.

What version of IE are you running?

On IE8 beta 1, the page starts to lock up after it loads and I can't use the vertical scroll bar. But almost immediately, I get a popup warning about a nonresponsive script and I am given the opportunity to disable the script. That is a nice touch in IE8.

hex dump
I'm just purely venturing a guess here. There are a number of places where the line extends beyond 3000 characters. Is the browser choking on that I wonder?

Incidentally I decoded the hex data and the result is binary. I'm not familiar with the contents.

That line is almost 3500 characters long. It is in the first post on that page and is quoted several times.

FWIW Opera displays that page perfectly with and without JavaScript enabled. (I'm not saying Opera is better than any others - just that it doesn't stall on that page.)

As you can see from the above post from the website there was no problem using IE 6 without java or active X.
My guess is that its some sort of Ad. Doubleclick has been know to cause such behavior in IE. Its seriously doubtful that its a script although Mele's IE 8 seems to say the contrary.

It wasn't caused by an ad. I use the Proxomitron and I haven't seen an ad in 8 years at least. However, I just went to the site on IE6 and had no problems and no popup about an unstable script. IE8 is in BETA and I don't even have Beta 2 (I don't want IE's version of Firefox's/Opera's not-awesome bar). So, there may be no script causing a problem but there is no ad causing a problem either since I don't see ads.

The Camino browser (for Mac OS X) also gave me the opportunity to stop the script from executing on the page.
