Doesn't change anything.

I doubt people hold previous copyrights to EVERYTHING they type into the browser. In fact, most people don't have nay copyrights to anything. This just covers a picture, file, etc. NOT search data, demographic data, habitual data, etc.

Google is getting up there to be the pinnacle of slimy-ness.

Google is evil

Surprising that Microsoft takes a hit for everything while Google comes up shining. After years of being anti-Microsoft, I think Apple and Google these days are a lot more evil.

How?? They changed the TOS...its been explained that it was a mistake, they changed it. THey said that they attempt to keep the same TOS through out all they use, and so used this one from another of their apps. They've changed it...no BFD.

People keep saying how google is evil, and the only thing that I can come up even close is that you don't like the fact that they track your browsing and submit targeted ads to you...well, if thats what you don't like, there are MANY known ways to stop it, but it isn't like Google is in the shadows, wringing their hands while snickering softly to themselves. As far as I can tell, they've been pretty upfront about everything they've done...they provide a wealth of online apps for FREE (I have no doubt there is an OS coming down the pipes at some point)...and if I get all of this for letting them target advertise to me...have at it. Small price to pay in my opinion.

Someone mentioned this in another thread, and I am going to paraphrase, but you guys are limiting yourselves to the use of the net by being paranoid for more than likely, no good reason. You KNOW the caveats that come with the software, so use them to your advantage...make them work for you, instead of trying to constantly hide from them and gripe about them on DSLR.

They learned at the knee of the master. Build up a small but fanatically loyal fan base, slowly but steadily move into the darkness, and rely on your army of fanatics to defend every move you make in every venue possible. Apple and Google are run by very shrewd marketing minds. As long as nobody successfully peeks behind the curtain they're golden, and if someone does, that army will crush 'em.

Edit: Hey look, a buck private arrived to secure the front line while I was typing...

You still haven't told me why...what moves towards the dark side have they made?

I've no allegiance to Google, but they've done no wrong and stuck with it as far as I can tell. Please enlighten me and show me where they have and I will reconsider my position. I've used Windows forever, but definitely have problems with their practices, because I've seen how they manipulate their products and require you to use only the sw they produce to be able to get the most out of your PC. I've seen this happen, I can go back over my 25 odd years of computer experience and see the transition...so not only do I know what to look for, I don't like it when I see it.

:EDIT: Hey, look...somewhere a village is missing their ass-u-ming...well, ya know.

Go read up on some of Google's recent intense Washington lobbying, their outright lying about certain technological "advances", and their purchase of DoubleClick.

You can also seek information about Apple walking away from hundreds or thousands of defective products (batteries, LCD screens, etc.) even though the product containing same is under warranty.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is pretty transparent.

@comcast.net
actually this discussion looks a bit like a fanboy vs fanboy discussion rather than any actual revelation about google's hidden evil intents.

Don't be naive. Google's lawyer team knew exactly what they were doing by releasing those Ts & Cs. You'd better darn well believe that corporate attorneys are all over new product releases, and that is clearly the case here. Turning your head while allowing the big boys to march to their own beat without question is a dangerous thing!
