iansltx : Your DSL is slow. FiOS is 10/2 with a contract. OOL is $45 with no contract. They cost the same as any other cable company, $45 for regular internet, $60 for faster speed. Regular speed is 15/2, faser is 30+/5. I'm paying $63 + modem rental for a Comcast connection that isn't even as fast as the lower-end Cablevision tier. Seriously, they're overpriced? THey provide more for your money!

I for one think doing a muni WiFi network for customers of your service is a fine idea, and 1.5 Mbit symmetric service wherever is enough to get most things done. Most AT&T/T-Mobile hotspots don't get up to that speed. Basically the premise is this: with FiOS you get internet to one location. Sure it's wicked fast but it's also a little on the expensive side and once you get out of your own WiFi coverage you're gone. ith CableVision you can move into an "extended service area" where you still have internet, without having to buy any extra equipment. Sounds like a win to me.
