resolution on DSL sync issue - sorta

pablo2525 : Hi,

Once again, hats off to TSI. Yes, we had some bumps but in the end, with their help, my DSL is working again.

So what happened? It's hard to say but I think I can piece it somewhat together. The issue seems to be around multiple problems.

DSL Background

I have two phone lines with DSL on them. These two phone lines are not at my residence.

For those interested, I'm attaching photos of my DSL setup. In short, in order for me to get high-speed where I live, I need to backhaul the connection to my home across a 5.8GHz link.

This adds a wee bit of complication to the matter.

Line Stats not for my line

Bell made an error when they initially set up my Line Stats. This error wasn't discovered until I lost DSL Sync last week. TSI and I figured it out.

I've had DSL on this line for a couple of years.

What Bell did is mapped Line #1's Line Stats to Line #2 as well!

When the Bell technician would look at the ticket, they'd pull the Line Stats and see all is well, so they'd close the ticket. Gack! Never mind that TSI put in the ticket the Line Stats are wrong ... they were ignored or not conveyed to the Bell technician.

The other compounding issue is the Bell tech would phone the DSL number (not the number I gave) and because it's in an outdoor enclosure, no one picks up! hah!

Again, infuriating to me because I'm telling TSI: please have people call my cell or work number, not the DSL number; and the Bell technician not doing so ...

And of course I have to explain my crazy outdoor enclosure thing!

Current Status

After reading here how people get (re)connected on a reduced profile, I specifically requested that my profile be set to my original 5 Mbps speed. It's not. I'm at 3 Mbps. heh!

The Line Stats are still wrong.

A quick call to Mr Joshua (TSI) this afternoon got me another TSI ticket to get the above items addressed.

At least I'm back up 'n running!
--
pablo
openSUSE 11.0;KDE
ISP: TekSavvy DSL; backhauled via a 6KM wireless link
<TABLE WIDTH=95% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">

parabolic sitting 52' up

outdoor enclosure

innards - cleaner than before!
