I'm sure you're right and the interleaving is a symptom of an underlying problem, that's no doubt. Interleaving shows up in the first hop past your router. If you're on the most heavily interleaved profile, your first hop would probably hit around 50ms give or take a few.

But as I said before, there is nothing in a profile that could possibly take you from low double digit pings to high triple digits. You're talking jumps of over 100ms from normal, right? ATT SouthEast doesn't have profiles with nearly that much interleave. Intermittent noise doesn't cause pings to jump 100+ms either.

A traceroute might be very revealing.

Now you show me yours.

Airwolf7,
I know you and the others are trying to help, and I thank you for that...
I appreciate the offer to analyze the stats, and I know for a fact that there are those in this forum that are very good at diagnosing problems from the stats, But In my experiences thus far, the only positive changes that happen are when a tech is physically dispatched to my location.
So I'll just let the tech get his own stats when he gets here since they are going to run the tests again anyway.
I've been thru the stats drill more than a few times times already, just not on this forum.

FWIW, I can practically guarantee you that some of the stats will be bad, the real problem lies in what's making them go bad...they aren't always bad, there have been extended periods where the fast path stats are excellent, then a major storm comes thru, or I'll see AT&T trucks down at the DSLAM, and wham!, back on interleave I go.

I'm just weary of having to beg support repeatedly to have me be put back on fast path so my online game pings won't suffer, only to have an external "noise" problem outside of my network rear it's head again and automatically switch me back to interleaved to remedy it.
The new Motorola modem was sent in an effort to cure the occasional dropouts, but it doesn't address the underlying problems that make the dropouts happen, nor does it solve the problems that make having to be placed on interleaved status necessary in the first place.

And yes, I know that residential DSL is a "best effort" endeavor, so I am not guaranteed to be on fast path, have great pings, nor am I guaranteed to have the advertised speeds...the only thing I can be guaranteed it seems is that the bill for the service will arrive with regularity, and the price on that bill will not reflect any of the aforementioned shortcomings.

To all the techs out there, thanks for doing the great job you do, I've never met one of you that did not try very hard to resolve the issues, or did not leave me with a good impression, but I think there are some things the techs will not be able to remedy unless the corporation that is AT&T starts taking the long term customer's satisfaction level a little more seriously and get the external network sorted out a bit better.

Perhaps the next tech's fix will hold, if not, It'll be saying goodbye to an old friend.
Thanks again guys for at least trying.

Since TS Fay sideswiped my area, my DSL line has switched over to interleaved twice. Both times I was originally on fast path with good stats (not excellent, but definitely not noisy) and my CRC errors/discard packets were minimal. The first time I called up TS I was able to get one of the off-shore techs to easily and painlessly switch me back to fast path (with the DSG's help, of course). I snapshotted the stats and ran a line monitor, and then sure enough just last weekend there was some sort of power blip here. The modem (on a protector, not a UPS) resynched on interleaved and the stats were actually worse than they were on fast path (even with MaxSync).

This seems to be a more prominent issue in older areas since the uVerse roll-out was supposed to start in this area. It isn't, however, an immediate condemnation of the last mile of copper or anything inside the customer's premises, but in fact appears to be some sort of tech-burp on Bell's side.
