| Lock Up Your House Online
Use a wireless system to lock the doors of your house online while you're away from home. The article doesn't mention what encryption is used, but I might be a little uneasy with it depending on that. Of course, if you have that nagging question "Did I lock the back door?" while away from home, this might give some peace of mind.

| Folks with OCD could re-lock their doors every five minutes all day long.
I can just see it: you're home after a long trip and try to unlock your doors from the internet but the web site is down... |

| reply to mers2 Something like remote entry for automobiles sounds like a better idea. This could be a device on your key chain - perhaps they'll even come up with a universal remote: good for your car, garage door opener, and house. One beep opens the primary door, two beeps opens all of them, another button locks everything. |

| reply to mers2 It could be done quite easily with off the shelf home automation software and an electronic deadbolt, without the $13 a month fee. I take a simpler approach. I use a fingerprint reader door lock set to always lock the door when it is closed. The door is always locked, and you can't forget or lose your key. |
