1) Ability to switch ISP without affecting voice service
2) Ability to receive voicemail via email ( this rocks on the iPhone )

I've looked at my usage, and 1000 wouldn't cut it so my base rate would go up $5mo assuming taxes equal. Eliminating the power used by the Vonage TA probably makes that a wash.

Also my VOIP should be better since the traffic is shaped outside of my 10/1.5 service and my wiring would be simpler.

Hmmmm... the only downsides I can think of is the pain or porting a number and my desire to fund Vonage since they keep the Telcos honest.

I am not sure if phone is different but they have been trying really hard to correct a lot of problems they the regular voice and dsl had. Customer service for uverse is 10 times better.
