<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/297537"><b>en102</b></A> : I suspect that the chips were relatively cheap, and since UMTS is a bit more of a 'global' standard than EVDO, it is being promoted.  At one time, the same statements went for WiFi.  I do suspect that it is being subsidized by the wireless industry in general though.<br>Laptops typically have a life of ~ 3 years... not that much different than that of a cell phone.<br><small>--<br>Canada = Hollywood North</small>]]></description>

All you do is pop a cover off on the bottom of the laptop and install a new one.
