| whose interests? despite getting stories like these periodically and something called FACTS, some people still seem to labor under the illusion that the large, incumbent ISP telco/cablecos have the best interests of consumers in mind.
THEY DO NOT. They are for profit, shareholder "owned" companies. It has been shown time after time after time that these companies don't care about their customers if they don't have to. They would rather send in lawyers to shut down independent providers (or at least burden them with onerous conditions not conducive to a successful business) and municipalities than compete on services or price.
as long as broadband is dominated by the incumbents, we'll get slow, crappy, wildly asymmetrical service that is barely better than advanced third world country's. |
