My neck of the woods is going to have the effects of Gustav tonight through Sunday morning. Hanna is going to be quite a rain maker. Lil... on a side note. TrainBuffThe New Haven RailroadPremium join:2003-05-01 Buffalo, NY kudos:4 | Looking at our news web site, there is reports that Hanna will drop more then 10 inches of rain in certain areas. Flash flood warnings are going up along the coast through Rhode Island. In NYC, I expect low lying areas, areas along the water and possibly that the subways, MN & LIRR will be impacted. Hoping that the reports will be wrong. All be safe. -- Train Yourself To Relax...Ride The New Haven Railroad! Weather or No...Go New Haven! The New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Co.:1872-1968. 1 edit | reply to Coderedpl WABC said there would be 2-4 inches of rain generally across the area. Also wind gusts of up to 60MPH are possible in eastern LI and portions of the Connecticut coast. Though it certainly doesn't look like anything is near us right now...
Tomorrow will just be a good day to stay indoors and watch a movie. There's also a tropical storm watch in effect for the area. -- Please use all available doors...you have 33 to choose from. |

A saturated ground and heavy winds. I always worry about some of the 100+ year old tall trees around the farm in Westport when I see these reports. They're healthy trees, but really tall and really old. |

They're healthy trees, but really tall and really old. We had some extremely violent wind storms up here this Spring, which was paired w/ snow soaked ground and heavy post-Winter rains... we lost hundreds of ancient, healthy trees just in my town alone. |
