Data cable question.

My modem came with a line called a "data cable" which is green in color, it has telephone line fittings on the end so I would think it is only another name for a telephone line. I will be needing to buy another one because I will need a 50ft line to go from my outlet to my modem and it is only 25ft long.

Will any 50ft telephone line work if I am using it for my naked FastAcess DSL direct, or do I need something called a data cable in that 50ft. length?

A regular telephone cable (RJ11, RJ25, etc..) would work if your talking about the cable that connects the DSL modem to the telephone jack.

Thank you jhaygood86. That is what I was speaking of.

If you could help me with my other question in my other thread listed below I would appreciate your help.

Generally it's not good to use a very long telephone cable. ATT recommends no more than 15 feet, but I personally have used 25 feet without any trouble and your experience may be the same. Just something to keep in mind if you do have any problems. You could always leave the modem where it is and use longer ethernet cable(s).

15,000 feet of CAT nothing running from the DSLAM to the "Test Jack" so I'm not worrying about a 25 foot Walmart Made in China no CAT because they ate it phone cable.

I wouldn't recommend using one of those 150 foot long thinner than a shoe lace ribbon phone cables they sell. I saw a fellow with one of those 150 foot cables all rolled and wadded up into a ball and his DSL was working great with awesome stats.

I have a 25 foot plain jane phone 4-wire phone wire running from the DSL filter to the DSL modem (even though they are only like 4 feet from each other...). Stats are awesome.
