Re: [northeast] cat5 not allowed to be used in NYC for the ONT? I had Fios Internet and phone for about a year. The wire run from the ONT to my Actiontec is Cat 6.
Yesterday, Verizon finally installed TV Service (3 HD DVRs). They used my existing Coax for the new TV runs. The MoCA is coax to the cable port on the Actiontec. The WAN connection to the ONT (Ethernet) remains on the Cat 6 wire. There did not appear to be any issue with this style installation.
I had 20/5 Std FIOS before and speed tests indicate that the same is the case now. I am not interested in taking any service that I am not paying for. However it does not appear that this cabling setup is in any way delivering more than the 20 down I am a subscriber to.
