Why is there no need to enter your PPPoE username after...

I reset my modem, then disabled the Walled Garden, and was surprised to see that I could surf the internet immediately, without even entering my PPPoE username and password into the modem. Wow! It's great, but I don't understand it: explain to me how it's possible to connect to the internet without entering the correct PPPoE username and password. The same thing happens if I set the modem to the bridge mode. I don't have to enter the right PPPoE password (not sure yet about the username in this situation) into the dir-655 router to connect to the internet. Who can explain this greatness to me?

So, it looks like that with Verizon, you only have to be on the right telephone line to connect to the internet. Amazing!

It's called OpenPPPoE. In theory, any username and password should work in an Open PPPoE system.
