Caller ID testing site here

This site tests your CNAME caller ID... not sure how accurate it works, some of my numbers are not displaying correctly.

How about you guys?

Re: Caller ID testing site here

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for a service like this for a long time.

Cavalier had the wrong name on my secondary line. Otherwise both Cavalier and Verizon were OK. These were with POTS lines. I will try my VoIP when I am at home.

The Vonage number answered with a modem tone the first and third times and a voicemail system the second time. So, no indication of how their service is working.

yeah I noticed my original AT&T ported to Sunrocket, and now to Ooma still shows the OLD caller ID name on Cavalier... (which is my father's name)

And on verizon, it shows "Unavailable"

Not sure if it is accurate, but I called a business number and my new Caller CNAME shows..

Not sure if its correct or not.

x2 Thanks for the post.

But I would expect some "Unavailable" replies.... due to dipping for CNAM cost $ per dip.

not quite understanding your post.. do you mean VOIP incur more charges for CNAME?

Re: Caller ID testing site here

Ultimately its the terminating carrier that should "dip" or pull the CNAME record for the number calling.... However some carriers do not do this, as each time they dip, it cost money.

My point was CNAME is not free from a service provider's standpoint.

I don't get it; are they selling a way to "fix" the problem too?

One method of fixing requires us to change your telephone service so you reveal only your main telephone number and not your roll over numbers. The benefits of this change are only one number to maintain in national databases. The main number almost always gets the proper name as it alone is tied to (411) directory assistance, billing, yellow pages, etc.

Also, what's with the IP addressing? They own »testcall.com/ too...
