True, that is because it's an unlocked modem.

From my time working there & changing profiles.... I've never seen a properly working adsl2 profile.

Best I've seen was 7296/9**

What I'd like to see is like Glen said... a Interleave profile Trace & a Fastpath Trace. Until then I think we won't really be able to compare.

any (new) line cards installed nowadays are VDSL. But with how bell is turning the dsl service into a dial up service... will that actually be necessary.

yeah if it is the locked version given by Bell, yes. My modem is in my drawer collecting dust after I found out how crippled the modem is in terms of getting line stats, etc.

So does this mean we should all flood the direct support thread for fast path requests?

All new 7m connections are default Fast Path.
I don't think the old 7m Interleaved will be changed to 7m fast without a specific request from the customer.

10,12,16 are still defaulted to Interleaved.
You will need to call in and request Fast to get it.

Any reason as to why ADSL2+ profiles were initially on interleave ?

Another ADSL2+ profile that's not configured to the actual profile bitrate, and just squeezing by on the upstream noise margin.

I have been made aware that at least upstream SNR levels are not absolute when under ADSL2+.

there is no need to flood the directforum with something as trivial as changing your profile to fastpath...you can simply talk to someone on bell chat and they will have your profile changed to fastpath within hours...this is what i did

Based on this change...fastpath on ADSL2+, I have upgraded my service to the 10 Meg Max with 100 Gig download limit from unlimited. I have checked my download usage for the past few months and this amount is definitely plenty for my needs. The latency issue was the thing that kept me away.

wow you guys whine alot...

Oh noes I have internet speed is so fast that I also need a low ping.

Or there's these other people who are still 1mbit interleaved... perhaps we can leave these people with awesome connections alone for a few years and upgrade the crap connections?
