Dogfather : I submitted a news story about the NBC thing. At the time of course NBC was whining about price, that Jobs wouldn't charge $4-$5 for a show.

Then when they come back with their tail between their legs, they began with the piracy talk. Apple already has DRM on videos and NBC wanted tags placed on ALL imported content going into iTunes making it into a piracy gateway. Yeah right.

Meanwhile we got the pricing annoucements for NBC shows. Not only are the shows still $1.99, but now we get older episodes (eg Heroes) for only $0.99.

Like music, I guess NBC sees iTunes as a vehicle for promotion as well as revenue (even though the revenue may be small).

QuickTime and iTunes updates on the down-low?

Dogfather : Lack of mention of bugs in software update? That's just plain horseshit. All software updates include a link in the description to what is included in the update. »www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n61798 For THEIR picture they just conveniently leave it scrolled up so it looks like no information is available. If they were really that interested, scrolling down would have gotten them a link leading to the security update information including iTunes 8 »support.apple.com/kb/HT3025 and Quicktime »support.apple.com/kb/HT3027

Nothing was released on the down-low. Everyone knew iTunes 8 (which requires the new QT) was coming. They just had a big "Let's Rock" keynote media event about it, given by Teh Steve himself, and now the new iTunes, iPods and software updates are featured all over Apple.com. Teh Steve even covered the bug issues in the 3G iPhone and said a "huge" update (2.1) was coming Friday that had all the new features, plus bug fixes for dropped calls, battery life, app stability, backup speed plus more. That coming Friday update is also prominently shown on the site. Hell the entire keynote is available on Apple.com.

Apparently the only ones who were surprised by any of this was The Register. But of course they were surprised. They can't even follow a few simple hyperlinks either.

If they wanted a news story, how about NBC coming back to iTunes with their tails between their legs.
<TABLE WIDTH=95% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">
