Order DSL online/via the phone and pay $60 to have it installed by the next day...

Call Charter and pick up a self-install kit/obtain my own modem and have my Internets activated same day...for free...
And thats pretty sad when charter bests another company

He did one better, switched to SBC DSL. Not one problem in several years.

Yes, I'm aware. Cable services do not require a site visit, though...
That depends, though. If you currently subscribe to TV service from your cable provider, then no, you don't need a site visit since you already are connected to their network.

But if you are a new customer, then you need a tech visit to either 1) connect the drop or 2) remove filters.

But yea, being able to do a self install with cable is a major plus. The fact that you can literally be up and running within minutes of purchasing/receiving your cable modem makes it so much easier to leave DSL immediately.

Charter ........ Service down so often that my dad quit calling for a credit. Down for days at a time and at least twice a week .......... The quick install doesn't justify it .....
Always call to get credit, especially from these mega companies!

Problem is, there ain't no Charter in Canada. Just Bell\Rogers, Bell\Shaw, bell\Cogeco...

You're aware you're talking about companies in two different countries, right? I think it would be more relevant to ask what Bell's competition is doing.
