You're aware you're talking about companies in two different countries, right? I think it would be more relevant to ask what Bell's competition is doing.

That depends, though. If you currently subscribe to TV service from your cable provider, then no, you don't need a site visit since you already are connected to their network.

But if you are a new customer, then you need a tech visit to either 1) connect the drop or 2) remove filters.

But yea, being able to do a self install with cable is a major plus. The fact that you can literally be up and running within minutes of purchasing/receiving your cable modem makes it so much easier to leave DSL immediately.
