Jodokast96 has already answered this same question that you'd asked earlier. The answer and suggestions would still be the same...

My Down Stream Margin (dB) varies greatly from hour to hour, from low single numbers to the low teens. Right now, it is -1.5 (I didn't even know it COULD be negative).

What can cause it to fluctuate so much?

It probably wasn't training properly is a good guess. 2200s are old units so it probably just got old. Otherwise, you say you can see the CO from your home. How far is it in terms of miles or feet?

Update: Verizon phone repair came and found a slightly loose wire (old style Western Electric screw and post setup). But that didn't change my bad transceiver stats.

Then I managed to get a slightly used Versalink 327W and hooked it up.

Now this is more like it, considering that I can see the CO in the distance from my living room window:

Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3360 864
Margin (dB) 15.5 10.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 38.5 24.0
Transmit Power (dBm) 8.5 11.8

Problem solved. It was the 2200 that was acting up.

Apparently (to quote Verizon Direct) the Westell 2200 is no longer training correctly.

I'm having the same problem (see my post here).

For many years I'd get 3360/864, but now I'm lucky to get 1500.

I have a Westell 2200. Thought it was the modem, but I see you're having the same problem with the 327W.

So what would bring downstream margins down like that ?!?!?

I think Verizon has abandoned all copper maintenance in favor of FiOS, and couldn't care less about DSL now.

1). Any number of things can cause the sync rate to drop. In your case, it's the low margins. What's causing that is the real question. The answers are numerous, but things that you can check on your end are filters, jacks, and wiring. If you can access the NID, connect the modem there and see if the stats improve. If they do, the problem is on your end. Otherwise, it's something for Verizon to deal with.

2). Pretty bad. See above for things you can do.

3). Pretty much comes down to getting a hold of the right support person in the first place. Whoever you got the first time should have never said things were fine. Far from it. Normal sync is 3360/864, margins should be a minimum of 6/10, and the attenuation for that speed isn't usually more than 50 on the down side. After checking as much as you can on your end, try calling again and don't let them tell you things are fine. If that fails, post your issue in the Verizon Direct forum.

Lately, my speeds got noticeably slower and inconsistent. I have 3/768 and a D90-327W15-06. My stats are as follows:

Down Stream Path Up Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 2880 512
Margin (dB) 3.0 10.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 54.0 31.5
Transmit Power (dBm) 18.8 11.9

I never looked at my Ststs before, but I KNOW from the Modem Home Page that my Sync Rates were much higher. I called Tech Support, and they gave me the usual "no problem" answer.

I have 3 questions:

1) What made the Sync Rate go down? Is it automatic, or does it come from Verizon somehow?
2) How bad are my Stats? What should I do?
3) Do I need more than bad stats and slow speed to get a tech out? Do I need to exaggerate (e.g. say it is dropping connection)? What is the best way to get a service call for this?
