Telecom has been deregulated for what 12 years now? Since it's open competition the rural areas aren't going to be cared for. It's simple math aka ROI. If Verizon was regulated in these areas and had a guaranteed profit that would be another story altogether, but that's simply not the case.
Does someone really think Verizon can afford to run Fiber to all 33 million copper households? Seriously. |

| That is so wishy washy to say "there is no care in profit".
Any business school in the world will tell you that a company is supposed to care about its stockholders (i.e. people like you and me who invest our savings in these companies). Verizon has spent billions rolling out fiber where it has. It has to go where there are enough customers to pay back on that investment.
If the government thinks it is important that all people have the same access, then it can subsidize. But remember nothing is free. That means tax money. (again from people like you and me that pay taxes.) |

There is no 'care' in profit. you don't have to fuck people over to make a profit. if making profits can only happen by fuckng people over maybe capitalism isn't such a great thing. Fact is you can provide customers with great products and great service at reasonable prices and still make a profit. |

Have you seen their financial statements? If memory serves me correctly they could take their NET INCOME from 2-3 years and pay CASH to have every person they service on fiber. |
