From what level of leadership...

From what level of leadership/management will the apologies be coming? Will they be cold detached form letters, personal letters, personal letters and a personal phone call?

Surely there must have been some customer somewhere who noticed these calls and tried to dispute them. I can only further imagine that Verizon surely questioned the dispute or outright denied the dispute. I say that not because I think Verizon is some a scum company, but who would think it was a case of your line actually being hacked? I mean, I am sure some husband somewhere got caught and tried to play like he didn't do it calling Verizon to dispute it, etc, etc. So, I can only imagine there must have been someone somewhere who got the shaft from Verizon, only to find out, it wasn't the customer making the calls after all.

Maybe, just maybe, this wasn't a big deal for the customers involved. However, I hope Verizon owns up and sincerely apologizes to those affected -- especially if said customers rightly tried to dispute and were denied by Verizon and doubly especially if it caused additional problems for the customers.

I imagine those letters on company letterhead will read something like this:

Dear Mr./Ms. Subscriber:
Verizon regrets the recent use of your account for illicit purposes, however, Mr. Vaccarelli was not our employee, but an independent contractor working in an unsupervised capacity. Verizon neither authorized nor condoned his actions and regrets any inconvenience this may have caused.

Please note that Verizon is neither sorry nor legally responsible for any damages you may have incurred. Thank you. Come again. (no pun intended) Have a nice day.

Sincerely,
Verizon (We're not sorry; We don't have to be.)
