True you aren't likely to get 1 Gbps from a single source, but from multiple sources (example: BitTorrent) it's possible. Correct, bit torrent and the like are the exception. Even then I think you would have a problem funneling 1 gig per second to a single destination (ie. your computer), however I dont know if anyone has tried!
