Not exactly sure what it is you are trying to say. But, if you are saying V* won't let you have video over coax AND internet over Cat5e while having any of the more advanced STBs (SD QIP-2500, HD QIP-6200 or HD DVR QIP-6416), which allow for the STB functions that require an IP presence, that is just plain wrong. That is EXACTLY what I have and do not have any internet problems. I do not use the Actiontec router, I have a Linksys WRT54GS and a Motorola NIM-100 (which, BTW, looks exactly like the DTC-700 box). The sketch above is how my system is wired.

Admittedly, I do not have a 20/20 provision like you but I get the full capability of my 15/2 (14.7/1.91) connection all the time. I tried the Linksys router on a friend's 20/5 connection and the results were: 19.9/5.11 - exactly the same as with his Actiontec.

A Verizon provided DVR has nothing to do with DVDs. It records shows to an internal hard drive so that you can play them back later - it has absolutely NO DVD playing capability. It's like having a VHS recorder without having the need for tape and there is no removable media to fiddle with. You can always record to VHS either directly off the STB or from the DVR it you want to archive any shows.

Frankly, the DTC-700 is the barest of bones cable tuner and is only worth having if you happen to have it freebies because it was provided to allow you to transition from analog TV to full digital when they made the switch in your area. Looks like you are in the Pgh, PA area and I believe they went full digital from the get-go so you probably are being charged $4.99/mo for the DTC-700. However, the choice is yours.

DVR stands for "Digital Video Recorder" and has nothing to do with physical media. It's for recording shows and movies from the video service for later viewing. it took a while but I got them to install cat5e from ONT straight to comp :) I'm in PA....if your ONT has Coax AND ethernet port and you want TV and FIOS internet....call and have them run cat5e from ONT to comp and coax from ONT to a DCT 700 set top box. You won't get VoD or on screen TV guide or HD or premium....but you also wont have internet problems.

In MY case it was 3-6 hours not using browser and even though I was STILL in Diablo II, I couldn't use either IE or Firefox till I rebooted. Even installed fresh copy (retail) Windows XP Pro SP2 and still had problem....something in the
Actiontec firmware or the dual frequency Coax just wasn't working right.

They will NOT let you have both cat5e AND the DVR or the LARGE (includes all) set top box....however the DTC700 w/o the router seems to be acceptable.....but like i said you wont get VoD, on screen TV guide, HD or premium channels with the DCT700 set top box.
