Verizon Customer Service

If I hate anything at all, it's terrible customer service. Everytime I call Verizon, I have problems, whether it's with my home phone, cell phone, or internet. I had Verizon's internet service at my old apartment, and called them THREE WEEKS before I moved to transfer everything. I get to my new place, and NOTHING. They had three weeks to make the connections. It took another month after my move to get connected to the internet. When they did finally send my new modem, the disk I needed was GLUED to the package and the guy didn't know what to do. It took another three days to get someone who was proficient enough to do the downloads over the phone. I'd switch and find a better carrier, but I really can't afford to right now.

Oh, and I'm suddenly getting odd-hang-up calls. Someone had suggested I try a reverse telephone lookup program to figure out who's calling. Has anyone had experience with these?

Thanks,
Carl

I assume you're referring to DSL internet?

The support must've been shipped off to India or you just got really unlucky with the total idiots. When I worked for the third party callcenter contracted to do DSL (and later, FIOS) support, setting up without the CD was standard procedure. Hell it didn't work half the time anyway. Only thing the CD was needed for was USB drivers. Ethernet users could just throw it in the trash, for all we cared.

As for the hang-up calls, those are probably telemarketers with computer-driven predictive autodialers. The computer dials pre-emptively, in anticipation of a phoneslave becoming available within a few seconds. If no one becomes available to cover the call, it gets abandoned.

If you don't stop complaining I'll see to it that AT&T moves into your area.
