anon : ADDENDUM: I should clarify. I meant the reception(lack of buffering) is usually much better on TVU than Hulu, 56.com, Joost etc. I can tune in to Scifi and let it run 24 hours a day without a single problem. I have tried to watch movies from these sites(above), but most of the time the play rate is faster than the download rate, so I get the buffering pause. Very annoying.

Also, check »ovguide.com/movies-tv.html

I have only checked a few. Many, in my opinion are crap-download speed issues, links removed, etc.

The Southpark link has worked flawlessly for me.

We don't know what your internet connection is. You should have at least 400Kb/sec download for this to work acceptably. My connection hits over 4MB/sec down and 1MB/sec up.

Hope this was helpful.
I may check back in a couple days.

anon : As long as you have adequate download speed, there are lots of sites to check. I have only tried a couple because I don't want to install special software for each site. I do use TVU. »www.tvunetworks.com Some of the better known channels that are always on the air are: Spike, Scifi, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, ABC, Wheels(lots of 'formula' type racing, driver interviews etc. I haven't seen any drag racing-wish it was there). Several UK channels with older black&white type stuff: Laurel & Hardy, 3 stooges, Groucho Marx, Sinatra, Crosby and other movies from that time. Atlantis 3 is a great channel broadcasting a lot of Star Trek and Stargate episodes but it isn't on the air very often. Typically late at night.

You do need good download speed for uninterrupted viewing. Cable modem or better. I installed a new cable modem a couple months ago and it made a huge difference. No more skips in either audio or video, no buffering waits. It is better in this area than Hulu, 56.com and most of the others.

If I feel like watching a particular show ,I usually go to »www.surfthechannel.com Great collection of links to movies and TV shows. I mean thousands.

This is all free stuff. I like free over pay- any day.

TV on the internet?

signmeuptoo : Hi folks. I've got a recent problem that is frustrating:

Here at the house we cannot afford DISH network any longer, and we only HAD it for the science and history channels, locals, and such higher quality programming. So we had to send the box back and we've just about finished paying them what we owe...

We are so far from Nashville, where the transmitters are for over the air TV that it will take a very expensive antenna mounted high to get anything in, especially considering that stuff is about to go all digital and signals won't travel as far any longer. I am in the purple and blue zone and a *slight* hill (no more than 10 feet above the roof of the house) occludes the line of sight to the transmitters too.

So it will be a while before we have saved up enough to buy an antenna, cables, and mount. I am interested in any deals you might know of for such stuff, any good dealers online. But back on topic:

I am trying to find as many ways to watch "TV" online as possible. Right now I have Netflix and I know of the small amount of programming on each of the four network's websites, which don't work too well (some of them). BUT:

What other online TV services are there, what other content is there?

I will be deeply grateful to any good sites and services you can tell me about. I am not interested in youtube, youtube isn't what I am talking about, I mean full TV programs and movies and news and weather and other related content.

Thank you immensely.
--
Obama isn't experienced enough??? He made it through Harvard, became a lawyer against great odds. Experience not enough? Bull!!! Cancer and other diseases kill fellow members here at DSLR!
