Re: Comcast throttling Netflix's Instant Watch? None of that is going to help if Comcast is causing the problems. Let me ask, did you recently get that firmware update like the rest of us? It started when my modem upgraded...
I am also wondering if anyone else is having this problem, no one is able to fix it since its on Comcast's end, so I am getting a consensus... |

I don't doubt you are having a problem with your connection, but I believe your guess as to the cause is most likely wrong. Well, nothing else is slow. Youtube, gametrailers (HD), Hulu (HD) are super fast. Its nothing to do with my connection if that is the only site thats slow... I also provided a link to where other people are having the same slow downs when trying to watch movies...
I don't know, I just know thats its not on my end because the link shows multiple people are having the problem... |

The only thing I can post is ping info and a traceroute, which shows my ping is under 68ms... I know what I am doing I have tested it on multiple computers and all of them are loading the content slow... Only happens on netflix, its working great with gametrailers.com's HD videos |

| I sortothought I knew what I was doing, too. Something about using their software and a need to reboot once in awhile. I didn't think of it because I never need to reboot to clear an issue with any other software I run.
Still, I am gathering you don't want suggestions, so I'll just mind my own business now. Best wishes for resolving your problem. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |

Best wishes for resolving your problem. I know your trying to help, but I have done everything I can think of. Your just telling me that netflix would want me to restart my computer, which I have already done. I have restarted the router, modem. I have gotten the ping/latency, changed my DNS.
I have done everything I can think of, but nothing has worked. I know a lot of people on this forum are "n00bs" but I am not one of them :P |

If you're "not a n00b", why not download and install wireshark and pcap and do a packet capture while trying to view the movie and post it here and/or review it for indications of packet loss/etc? -- He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have. -Socrates |

The pings look ok, a spike or two but no packet loss along the route.
Are you certain that's the server you are actually connected to while you're viewing the movie?

pflogBueller? Bueller?Premium,MVM join:2001-09-01 El Dorado Hills, CA kudos:3 | Ok line stats look great.
As for the netstat output, none of those IPs' whois info mentions "netflix". Most of them are registered to Microsoft, and two of them are registered to Limelight (I'm guessing it's these?).
But to be sure, grab TCPView, it will show you which tcp ports are used by which processes. Correlate netflix to the IP, then once you have that IP, run a ping plotter against that IP for at least 5 minutes or so (and tell ping plotter to record every entry and to query once per second). -- He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have. -Socrates |
