Re: Need LCD recomendation...

Stay away from glossy LCD screens. Otherwise, you'll be looking at yourself in TV all the time
They start offering them not only for laptops, but even for small TV too

My PC LCD has the glossy screen and for the room it is in - I love it.

I am surprised no one had any recommendations though - folks have to be buying these as well as the larger LCD's.

Probably depends on the room setting, i.e. how much "light" there is. If we watch a movie, the blinds are closed and any lighting will be behind or beside the TV, *never* in "front" of the TV where it can reflect off the screen.

I don't recall what your budget is and mind you, I don't throw money around casually, but on a lower-end -- I do seem to recall it will be a smaller TV -- people don't sweat the details as much.

Even at Consumer Reports, the smallest they rate is a 26-inch...

If i had to pick a number for a budget - I would probably say $450 or less but if the TV is really good I might be persuaded to go as high as $500.

I just wish I could trust the screen in the stores - to know that the tv setups are not being played around with to try and push people into a particular set. Probably don't have to worry as much about that for smaller LCD's and places like Sam's.

Well since you are waiting at least 3 months to buy a TV. There will be new models and sales in the coming months.

In the end it is your decision.

I never said I was going to wait 3 months - only that I did not plan on buying in the next couple of weeks unless a killer deal came up. I will continue to look from now till I decide on one and buy it. Couple be less than a month from now - might be longer. If one is going on sale due to a new model being released and is a good tv - then I would strongly consider the older model.

I thought you said it was a Christmas present?

I plan on this being for a Christmas gift for my wife and I. Not planning to buy in the next couple of weeks but plan on taking some time unless there is a killer deal that crops up....

So at this point wait for the sales that will hit after Thanksgiving. And the way the stores are hurting there will be some "Killer" deals again.

I can buy a Christmas gift any time - not necessarily going to be bought in December. As noted in the second sentence - did not plan on buying in the next couple of weeks... With no modifiers after that part of the sentence - I can buy after a couple of weeks easily.
