Re: [Vista] x64 4 GB installed. 3.05GB available.

Sorry I misread your post and missed your question.

While within my BIOS settings I would see the 2GB DIMMs installed, during POST, when the machine first boots, I would see what processor I had, what speed it was running and the POST reported something like 3.3GB of RAM even though I had 4 installed. I run an Intel chipset (Asrock X48) but my symptoms were identical to yours.

After some reading I learned about this memory remap setting in some BIOSes and looked in mine. I found it and changed it from the default DISABLE to ENABLE. After saving the BIOS setting and restarting, when the machine posted again, the 3.3GB changed to 4GB. And when I finally got back into Vista x64 I had all 4GB of memory usable by the system.

Everest can report used memory regardless of what that address space is being used for. It may not be YOU using that 900MB, but the system using that address space for hardware, video RAM if you use onboard video etc.
