I just got off the blower with her. As some may recall, sometime last year she approved the idea of having a party there. She is 90 now, and as Mike will attest to, doing really well for her age. And a "pretty hep broad" too, in her own words.

She told me just minutes ago that she doesn't really want a party, so to speak, but she would have no problem with some of my friends coming by The Farm on a Saturday afternoon for a few hours. She said as long as the weather is decent that we wouldn't have to hang around in the house the whole time, we would be more than welcome. And Mike will vouch that we'd want to be outside in the backyard anyway. It's a very beautiful environment - so timeless.
She's a happy lady, and a real blast to listen to. She can tell you such stories as when my grandfather kicked Paul Newman off the property. There's other funny ones too.
She's a little bummed out these days, but that's because her dog of many years was put to sleep last week. She'll feel much better after a little more time passes, and be back to her old self.

I think I will head out there on the 29th, the day after my 8th anniversary. So, we can tentatively set this up for 1 November. We can't write this in stone yet, and I'd really like to keep it kinda low-key while we are there. And if we so choose, there are a few really nice bars in Westport that my cousin lives at - we can head over to one of them.
The Peppermill maybe.

Looks like the meeting was a success.

What did you guys think of Bobby Flays?
Yes we went to Martha Clara and you were right, it had a lot to do there - it was like "family week" there because of the llama zoo and the pumpkin picking part of the east end experience. It took about an hour and a half to get from Port Jeff to Martha Clara just because of traffic.

I thought Bobby Flay's was excellent. The food was top notch and the price was very reasonable. I think it averaged about 11 to 15 dollars per person for a meal. It is not a place to go for a long, drawn out re-union but for a quick meal it was good.

Thanks for the recommendation, it is always good to try something new and with 200 wineries to choose from - we now have 196 left to explore.

Knowing that we cannot "see Alaska" from our front porches we called an EMERGENCY MEETING of the NY M&G and headed east to the end of Long Island, hoping to see Europe from Orient Point.
I am sad to report, we could not see Europe, so we decided that while others were liquidating their assets, we needed to liquify our asses. :)

So to the wineries we went. We were unstoppable, we are unstoppable.
Out of this summit meeting on the easternmost tip of the State that houses Wall Street, Veni, Vidi, Winy......
We came, we saw, we drank wine.

Because of the emergent and impromptu nature of this summit, cameras were not considered so I took the attached photos with my Samsung Blackjack II.

I do prefer a non-bar type setting, it wouldn't be fair if someone was planning to show up and they were under 21. These meetings should happen some place where anyone of any age can join.

Especially if it's in Chinatown which is convenient for me (lets for a moment forget that Chinatown is creepy at night, cause I can figure out ways around that). The later you guys are out the more I can have a chance at making an appearance.

I am not a drinker, the glass or two of samples is usually my limit, but I understand your trepidation on the subject.

We can always work out things so that you are comfortable with the driving arrangements, I personally don't want anyone hurt on one of our outings, I could never live with myself. :(

On our last outing to the wineries, we were quite good with our consumption of wine, no one IMHO was drinking too much, but that is up to everyone involved as to what they consider too much.

We usually hit a place for "dinner" afterwards, so no one is hitting the highway "half bagged", we also intend to have food this time so there may actually be LESS drinking this time out.

You only have to drive so far, we intend to carpool to save on gas and to make it easier to get from place to place, so you could meet up with Phoenix in Queens and ride east with him.
