Re: New Internet Tiers Now Listed on WOW's Site

said by anonytard See Profile :

value and basic become xcite @ 2mbit/1mbit
advanced and ultra become xpress @ 8mbit/1mbit
ultra+ becomes xtreme @ 15mbit/1mbit
xtreme turbo is the new tier @ 15mbit/2mbit

...copypasted from a previous thread...
So what you are saying is I'm being moved to a tier that costs $5 less today than it did yesterday. Is my bill going down by $5?

I called this morning and tweaked my service. Ultra did become xpress. I droped the HD pak and changed to xtreme. Saved about $10.00 with price guaranteed untill 2011.
Reboted modem and am getting 15Mbs. Very happy here.

Thanks WOW for downgrading the Ultra tier to Advanced without lowering our bills.

Edit: still getting 6/600, no "upgrade" here yet.

I called and confirmed, pricing for ultra customers will not change unless you re-bundle.

Here is the odd thing, I just priced out everything i have on WoW's website and compared it with what i pay now. Re-bundling everything would not only save me about 3 bucks, it would also upgrade me to the Xtreme Turbo tier from my regular Ultra internet. However i haven't called yet, so that might change :|

I have Digital Value, Ultra, HD DVR, and the rental modem. I just called about changing my Internet access to Xtreme 15/1. Just changing that and keeping everything else the same the sales rep confirmed that I would be saving $3/month.

So today I received 6 new HD channels since I didn't have the HD Pak. 2x the Internet speed and I'm being charged $3 less.

A lot of people were complaining early with all of the rumors, but all I have to say is that I'm a happy camper. Oh add in the fact that after going through WOW's phone tree the sales rep picked up on the first ring so I wasn't waiting on hold at all just like every other time I've called WOW.

Yeah i can confirm it now, it is $3 cheaper. However, my upload is abysmal right now, it should be 2 Mbit.

I have the same package as you, but with 2 HD DVRs and Advanced Phone. I pay $112.00 plus tax.

I can't see, given the listed prices, how that will save me any money at all. You were fortunate.

SScrorpio, I have the same bundle as you (Digital Value, HD DVR, Ultra tier, and rented telephony modem). So you called the rep and moved from Xpress (8/1) to Xtreme (15/1) and your bill went down $3, how? The old Ultra and the new Xpress tier are both the same price (57.99) while the Xtreme is 67.99

I'm sure if I moved to the Xpress 8/1 my bill would have gone down even more. But they didn't modify what I was being charged even with the new bundle prices. Call them up and see if your bill changes, the worse that can happen is that it's the same so you don't make any changes.

Man. WOW wants $135.00 for the exact same services but with the 15/1 internet. That's $23.00 per month more.

Screw WOW.

Goober, I'm not sure what plan you are on, but your price is low. Summer of '07 WOW had the Digital Value, Advanced Phone, and Ultra Internet, and DVR package for $99 and it had the three year price guarantee.

I guess you could have gotten a HD DVR instead of a normal one, but you should be paying for both DVRs. You would then be at about $126 plus taxes.

That's the exact package I have. How is my pricing low?

$99.99 + $11.99

You said you have two HD DVRs. WOW charges for all HD DVRs. I tried switching in a HD over the standard def DVR back when I had that package but they were going to charge me the normal full price.

You should be paying $99.99 + $11.99 + $11.99 = $123.97

You are also on a rate locked bundle, and by changing your Internet access you would come off that pricing to the current rate which is why there is the price increase to you.

I didn't ask for the HD DVR with the regular bundle. They didn't have any of the others available.

My bill shows it only as the Signature Bundle, which is the one you are referring to.

SScorpio, how are your speeds looking? Is your upload as it should? I'm only getting about 1/4th of what i'm supposed to get.

I was getting the Advanced Internet and Advance Phone (4mbps) for $77.99 a month. I just upgraded to Xtreme 15/1 for $2 extra a month. So basically I am getting an extra 11mbps down for $2. Not too shabby. Speed test show I am only downloading around 9000 though, how can you tell what .bin file you have. I don't see it listed anywhere on my 192.168.100.1 Arris page?
