I posted earlier somewhere that the speeds are flaky. I think the faster speeds are there, but fluctuating wildly (at least for now). |

| reply to mdh218 As did several others, I called in even though I already had 8000/1000 with the old bin file. The price I was paying was too much according to the new bundling.
They redid the bundle, $11 less per month and I immediately got this bin file as well:
Configuration File HSD_XpressSA3_395688.bin
Took only a few minutes. They were very nice. |

1 edit | reply to DJ Matt when doing speedtests, it's usually a good idea to mainly do them in backbone cities, preferrably closer to you. speed can't be guaranteed the further you get.
Chicago (seems to be everyone's backbone), Washington DC. this is in addition to the obvious Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland
edit: removed Kansas City. it's often indirect and hops thru Chicago |

| reply to anonytard A little FYI, they aren't called backbone cities. They're called POPs. And AT&T has one here in Michigan, in Detroit. But WOW has their own speed tests, right on their own network. So if you can't get good speeds with their own tests, then there is something wrong. |

join:2001-09-14 Westland, MI | I called again trying to get WOW to bump me up to the 15mb plan but no dice (tried yesterday to). My voicemail hasn't been working (turns out they never activated it) so I figured they might bump me up but no soup for me:( |

| reply to DJ Matt well the tech came out today and installed my service but gave me the old white webstar modem and I don't seem to be getting anything faster than 1.5 up not the 2 like some have been posting.
What modem has everyone else been getting the 15/2 speeds with? |

| I max out at about 1.7 up. And, it's infrequently that I get more than about 14.5x down. But, it's good enough for government work for me.
I should realistically only be getting 15/1. So, I'll take a little slower on the down for a little faster on the up. |

| reply to DJ Matt Yeah no change for me. I am moving to a new house next weeks so I'm gonna buy the 15mb/2mb one. I think it will be worth $72. I have the 6mb one now. I'll report back and let anyone interested in getting it know of any differences. I'm an IT tech so if there are changes I will really notice them. Good day!

If so, then you really need to call wow. |

To extend the signal without routing Ethernet cable and drilling holes and the ability to connect any place there is a 120VAC plug ... I think the price was worth it. I've tried wireless, but don't bother now.
EDIT: I would have though your wireless would have been good to a higher speed though.
