I was paying $106 for advanced phone and the 6Mb tier, then the upgrades came around, so I checked the wowway site to see what price difference would be for the 15/1 tier+adv phone and it was $84, I think.  $89 after tax. He said all modems are capable of the 15 meg speeds.  He also said everyone should be getting the 15meg speed.  I told him I thought I was just at 8/1.  He said no, that 15meg is the new standard speed, and that what I will be getting later today when they push the upgrade.<br><br>For the most part the guy seemed "on the ball", but he was obviously misinformed about the new speeds.]]></description>

First, he tried sending an update or whatever to the modem and that didn't give me the increase and secondly he tried canceling my internet and re-adding it and that didn't work. Now as I understand it the Advanced tier users (4Mbps) and the Ultra tier users (6Mbps/500Kbps) were put together on the Xpress tier (8Mbps/1Mbps). Is it not true that people that had bundles where there prices were locked in, would be paying the same right now after the upgrade? If that is true, wouldn't the Advanced tier users be paying less for the Xpress tier now than the people that were on the Ultra tier? If I am wrong please straighten me out, because this doesn't seem right.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1225597"><b>mdh218</b></A> : to check your bin:<br><br>point your browser to you modem 192.168.100.1 so you get the System screen (the only active link button).<br><br>power cycle the modem<br><br>keep clicking on the pink button for Status (green Signal and blue Log will work too) as it boots. right when it first reboots; the page won't load. but during the sync to WOW, all the buttons work until it finishes syncing. you will see the Status page keep changing with all the info it gets until you are finally locked out with the "this feature isn't enabled" screen. you can check your Log this way too. and the full signal strength info too under the Signal button.<br><br>the button links only work fro 10 or 15 seconds before the modem is fully talking/synced with WOW, but during that time, all the button links work.<br><br>simple enough.]]></description>

I watch little to no TV and already get local HD channels with my QAM tuner.  Might as well go to Xtreme for less money. She said they would mail me a new modem, I could do whatever I wanted with the old modem I did not have to send it back(obviously they are useless to them now). She said in the mean time I could possibly get up to 10mbps down as that was the highest that particular modem could do. As soon as I told her why I was calling and she looked at my account she very clearly said, Oh yeah you have one that we need to replace. So I am sure they are sitting there with a list etc...I just wish the tech that had upgraded me had caught it yesterday but either way, DPX 100 Hardware version 1.0 = not able to handle the new speeds. ]]></description>

I subscribe to the highest tier, which was..I think, 8/1.  I was really only getting about 6.5/1, but that's another story.  <br><br>I unplugged the CM to see if it would take the new firmware.  Nothing.  Reset it, nothing.  Still getting ~6.5/1.  Finally, I called WOW and the tech support person was walking me through the same troubleshooting process.  <br><br>He finally called somebody else, and then they ran something that updated something on the CM.  It sounded like they run a script that does two things; updates the firmware and updates the config bin.  The tech support guy said that it ran one thing but not the other.  After running the second part, it took the new configs and now am getting 15/1.  <br><br>I asked about the 15/2, and he made it sound like they came out with a new tier, which is 9 dollars more a month.  I decided to get it, and now it's 15/1.6, which is fine.  <br><br>So, I hope that this answers some questions people might have.  Maybe just a call to tech support and explain what's going on and it should be fixed.]]></description>

In looking at the Website, it appeared that I was paying more for my package and everything in my package than I needed to be.<br><br>Before, I was on digital cable, with advanced phone, Ultra internet, HD-DVR, Digital cable box, HD-PAK and my bill was $186.97.<br><br>I changed to the Digital Cable, with the 15/1 internet service and advanced phone.   I kept everything that I had before with the exception that I dropped the HD-PAK...but then added on Showtime and my total is now $174.47.   Without Showtime, my total was $159.47.   Even with the addition of the HD-PAK for $7.99...my total was 167.46.   So....$20 less per month for the same thing. <br><br>Glad that I called.<br><br>Oh yeah, my speeds are now 14,864 on my down and 1093 on my upload.  That changed when she zapped my modem on the call...as well as dropping our call :)<br><br>She told me that with the speed increase, because I was on the 2nd fastest tier before, I would have stayed on the 2nd fastest tier...thus 15/1 coming from the 6/500 package. <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1225597"><b>mdh218</b></A> : nothing here. 2 reboots. 2 phone calls; 1 to internet support, 1 to retention (as in going to cancel service); and she did was transfer me to internet support.<br><br>anyway, both phones calls resulted in them zapping (forcing a reboot) on their end. i asked questions like; if my firmware isn't changing could that be the problem? are you rolling out in zip code or geographic order? have you gotten a lot of calls about this problem? etc. both answered the last question: nope, you are the first. obviously, they have many CSR but come one...i know phone support talk to each other. you can hear them in the background all the time :)<br><br>after that 1 1/2 (2 phone calls) they are rolling a tech on thursday night to replace my modem.<br><br>cable -> webstar dpc2100 -> computer<br><br>i'm betting webstar modems aren't taking the update. i will see what they bring on thursday.]]></description>

They then transferred me over to Internet, had to explain my situation again (Comcast blah blah 16/1 blah blah; be nice but assertive)<br><br>I was already getting a $25 credit towards my bill since I had called and talked to retention a few months ago threatening to go to Comcast. Getting the new speeds bumped my bill up to $98, from $96, but I'm not complaining.<br><br>Dish Turbo HD Gold package @ $50/month (just HD channels + HD PVR) fills the HD gap that WoW can't fill.<br><br>Overall, I'm a very happy camper. Thank you WoW :)<br><br>Last Result:<br>Download Speed: 15771 kbps (1971.4 KB/sec transfer rate)<br>Upload Speed: 1080 kbps (135 KB/sec transfer rate)]]></description>

You have to upgrade at a cost. It pissed me off because your lower speed tiers are not being penalized but the upper tiers are. The only good thing is I got rebundled until 2011 but by then everyone else will have gigabit speeds and we will still be stuck here.lol Oh well, nice to have faster speeds for now.]]></description>

But get this....the guy actually told me NOT to go with 15/1 until I see how the 8/1 works for me once the switch is made.  He said since I'm not a gamer that I would basically have no use for all that extra bandwidth.  <br><br>Also, he told me the switchover to the new tiers won't necessarily take place today for all customers.  He said it's being done in stages between today and October 16th.  So don't freak out if your new speeds aren't there after 500 reboots.  That means it's just not your turn yet.]]></description>

I just upgraded to Xtreme 15/1 for $2 extra a month.  So basically I am getting an extra 11mbps down for $2.  Not too shabby.  Speed test show I am only downloading around 9000 though, how can you tell what .bin file you have.  I don't see it listed anywhere on my 192.168.100.1 Arris page?]]></description>

You would then be at about $126 plus taxes.]]></description>

Just changing that and keeping everything else the same the sales rep confirmed that I would be saving $3/month.<br><br>So today I received 6 new HD channels since I didn't have the HD Pak.  2x the Internet speed and I'm being charged $3 less.<br><br>A lot of people were complaining early with all of the rumors, but all I have to say is that I'm a happy camper.  Oh add in the fact that after going through WOW's phone tree the sales rep picked up on the first ring so I wasn't waiting on hold at all just like every other time I've called WOW.]]></description>

I will reboot the modem when I get home and by then I should be a happy camper. I wonder if the uploads stay the same. My current upload is 500kbps. Not sure if that is going to be bumped up to 1 meg or what. Looks like you have to get the 15 meg to get the 1 meg upload.]]></description>
