question about bandwitdh

Does the bandwitdh usage counted from billing date to billing date?

That is what my account shows...but if it is a "current" month inquiry it will show you from the last billing date to the current day...

yes and no.

The bandwidth usage has something like a 4 day delay. So what you downloaded the day before your billing end date may show up only on or after your new billing start date

So in a way yes, its usage based on date-to-date. But there will be carry over into the next month since Bell has for some reason made a huge delay in showing actual B/W usage.

It doesn't relefect the true usage in real time.

well actually i downloaded a bandwitdh counter so i just wanna calculate how many gigs i'm usin so i don't go over so it will be like real time bandwithd checker... So when i'm counting the 60 gigs, should i start counting from the billing date?

Yes.
Well again this is not a CLEAR yes answer, and many have been caught off gaurd and having to pay bell over-charges because of this very same question raised by this user.

Your 3rd party B/W meter will be an accurate reflection of your use ONLY from "said date to said date". Yes.

However, it will NOT reflect the B/W meter on Bells web site.

Lets say your billing date ends on the 15th. Bells B/W tracker will NOT add the B/W you used from about the 13th (its has a huge delay). So what Bell does is carry over this B/W usage onto your next billing cycle.

So what happens is the following:
Your tool will say you downloaded 55-gigs from sept 15 till oct.14th Good no over-charges.... so you think....

Bells site will carry over the previous months B/W (from August) that it didn't add due to its huge delay and they may show 75-gigs downloaded from spet. 15th till oct 14th.

So it won't match, then you pay Bell over-charges.

If you are using this tool to watch your current B/W, then you (like others) can be led to falsely believing you won't have over-charges. Then when you get your bill you have a surprise.

Try it for a month and give us some feed back.

Ok, here is my recent problem, i'd like confirmation as to if I understand this because then my recent problem would then be resolved....

The last day of billing date. It is at 25 GB and my limit is 30GB . So I try to reach about 30GB before stopping. Yet, the meter still show 25. I'm somewhat puzzled but I do know that it might take a few days.

The next morning, it is a new cycle, no problem about that and the site confirms it. But I'm very surprised that the meter indicates that I've got 5 gigs already downloaded/ uploaded. Of course, my 3th party program says I've done nothing yet for this new billing cycle.

Based on what you say, the previous days were not yet recorded by Bell and when they did, they carried that 5 gigs from the previous day to now.

Needless to say, if it is the case, it is very important to check the meter when the end date approches. And worse, you don't know if they will decide to carry those GBs to you next billing date or not at the last minute ...

Stephen

thats it

@videotron.net

yup.

In other words, will I get screwed this month by Bell or will I get screwed next month by Bell because they can't track B/W usage without a huge delay.
