I guess that was deserved! I am not that familiar with the technological details - therefore I was assuming that maybe Qwest would connect closer to the house. I am still confused that Qwest says we are good for 20MBps - they told me there should not be a distance problem

It is possible that Qwest may be able to provide you with service from a DSLAM equipped RT, rather than from the CO. Covad's DSLAM is usually located only in the CO and they do not have access to the ILEC's RT boxes. -- History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. -- Dwight D. thanks for the feedback. Funny enough, yesterday the line ran without any problems - and at night, EL called and asked whether the connection was better. They stated that Covad had 'done something' - but they could not tell me what. What can they have done? I would like to get to a point where I understand what is going on instead of spending days getting the runaround and then 'a miracle happens'.

Welcome to my world. I can't begin to tell you how many times that I have seen both DSL and T1 circuits mysteriously stop malfunctioning after a telco tech simply does an intrusive test and then puts the circuit back on-line. A miracle fix is as good as a known fix as long as it is really fixed. -- History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower Test your firewall.
