Re: [Unlock] TUTORIAL: VONAGE WRTP54G/RTP300 WITH 5.01.04

My MagicJack hack with RTP300 hack was working flawlessly for about a month. Now for some reason in Line 1 of Voice it says "Registration State: Failed".

I have rebooted all my networking devices one at a time.

Do you know if Magicjack folks change ProxyUserPassword often? I think highly unlikely but thought I would ask.

Any other ideas? I am going nuts trying all sorts ...

Thank you kindly!

Er-r-r-r-r! This post most likely belongs in the MagicJack subforum, not here. Anyhow, did you glance at the recent MJ subforum "titles"? Your plight is already under discussion in this thread.

successfully unlocked rtp300-vd. however I would update to the guide to show that the computer must be getting 192.168.15.100 from the ata and that ip showing in tftp32 especially in the second part with the rf file. I orginally had .101 from the ata (no other device connected, it just wanted to start with that even with numbering starting at .100) wf worked on that with the 101 substituted appropriately but somewhere in the rf it tells the ata to look at 100 regardless.
It eventually took the bin which had to be downloaded by cmd prompt rather than windows link and renamed.
I used a hex editor from cnet downloads hex workshop v6 which was fairly simple. entered the line address in a search box at the top which took me right to the spot to edit values which show in red after editing.
Cyt sets Admin/Admin but after loading new na firmware login goes back to admin/admin
thanks for the help

I have successfully unlocked my WRTP54G ex-Vonage router.
The instructions was very easy, Page1.

Although, I have a couple of questions I did not found.

After the successful unlocking.. I tried to enter again
»192.168.15.1/update.html

And tried the Admin/Admin or admin/admin or Admin/User

It simply won't let me login again? Got that from cyt. Any ideas?

And I looked on the linksys site, I thought there was a 5.x firmware and only found 3.x, am I missing something?

After unlocking, the user for the firmware update page is Admin and the password is blank

The 1.x and 5.x firmwares are Vonage specific. The 3.x is the -NA specific with setup screens like other Sipura/Linksys adapters.

Yeah, I'm also having an issue editing with HEX editor, not sure how to find the correct key to edit. If someone has an edited version of the firmware for the RTP300 send it to me at dzukowsk@gmail.com

Hello Everyone,

I have an unlocked WRTP54G Linksys. Can I use this with Lingo's VOIP Service?

Re: [Unlock] TUTORIAL: VONAGE WRTP54G/RTP300 WITH 5.01.04

I am also having the same problem as Ferndock2 (posted on 2009-03-16).

Last summer (2008) I got a rtp300 that a co-worker gave to me. I unlocked it and upgraded the firmware. After about 2 hours, I could not access it anymore. I restarted it, and could only access it for about 10seconds. I had to rapidly try to login, then had the time to browse to one other page, and then I could not even ping the device anymore. Then, ou of frustration, after 2weeks, I stopped playing with it.

This week, I got another of those unit for 10$, I've unlocked it, upgraded it to 3.1.17. This morning I wake up and I find the same problem again.

Anyone have any idea?

Once unlocked, you will need to turn off Provision feature so that it will not contact to Vonage to get relocked.

I did turn provisionning off.

The device is not locked. I just can't access it anymore. I can't ping it.

Did you use the same power adapter with both? I've seen this happen once in a while with a bad power adapter that under/overpowers the router. Is the power light on? Is it flashing?

My question is... Once I do all this changing to the router, how do I get a and use the phone number or do I even get one? Or is it better just to purchase the majick jack? Newbie

Wirelessrat, would you please point me to the right direction where I can download rpt300 3.1.24 firmware. I haven't uses rpt300 over a year and is at firmware (vonage) 1.00.62. I did step #5 on page 1 of this thread and just need to load new firmware.

Thanks.

Btw, how is 3.1.24 working out for you?

I just got a WRTP54G from a resale shop for $5. I figured it was something to play with but now I'm curious. It has 1.00.62 firmware on it, and I can login as admin/admin. But it has the same problem with the ethernet ports cutting on and off. The Internet port and wireless work ok. Ethernet ports are normal until it warms up, then no good. I have another 12v power supply I can try, and I can try fanning it or ice cubes in baggies. So far it works good as a wifi acccess point. Plugging in a phone gets a message about checking my account status. I have a Magicjack already so maybe it's worth messing around with.

It sounds like it's either overheating (check the voltage output from the power supply and see how far off 12V it really is) or that you have a bad solder joint on the board.
If the wireless and internet never drop out even when ethernet does, it's most likely a bad solder joint.
