i don't know anything about this,but is there any way that they could shut down the game and use it for providing internet like i said i don't know nothing about this system,but find it odd that google would buy a game system unless they have other intentions for it?

I don't think so. STEAM is a game verification and patch/updater software, among otehr things. it prevents pirating of games and cheating in on-line play (to some degree)
