This certainly sounds plausible to me; after all juvenile hackers worldwide are far more motivated by specific political interests in the United States than they are at hacking for its own sake, or just causing mischief in general.
In fact, I don't know a single teenager who'd go out of his way to cause mischief for no good reason if the opportunity presented itself - they would studiously avoid doing the same thing for Joe Biden, even if they tripped across his mailbox, out of deference to his progressive views.
So yah, this was likely a senior Obama operative. |

said by nwrickert :Revealing that she is using Yahoo, and might be doing it to evade subpoenas is one thing. Actually stealing and publishing the email goes way over the line. Here's what I heard from an old pal who has seen this issue discussed in polictical circles in the past - prior to this story being published -
Actually, if the Governor was sending an email message to, or receiving an email message from, another politician on Republican Party business, she should be using her private account. She's not allowed to use her government email account for political business. Just thought I'd share this 'legal minds opinion with all.
And NO I am not the legal mind quoted above -- Proud Member of ASAP DSLR Phishtracker |

| reply to amysheehan Thanks for that Amy, but why the heck a Yahoo account? My personal accounts are used with encryption if I need privacy. This is beyond explanation. Will this happen with more sensitive info? Rhetorical, I presume. -- "In the future, that which is not mandatory will be illegal" |

It is not out of the question that a person of honor would choose to conduct anything personal/political outside the State system so as to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.
We don't know if that's what's going on here, but the mere use of a private account for stuff related to her governor-ness is not slam-dunk evidence of wrongdoing.
