Update: Verizon phone repair came and found a slightly loose wire (old style Western Electric screw and post setup). But that didn't change my bad transceiver stats.
Then I managed to get a slightly used Versalink 327W and hooked it up.
Now this is more like it, considering that I can see the CO in the distance from my living room window:

Problem solved. It was the 2200 that was acting up.
Apparently (to quote Verizon Direct) the Westell 2200 is no longer training correctly. |

united state | It probably wasn't training properly is a good guess. 2200s are old units so it probably just got old. Otherwise, you say you can see the CO from your home. How far is it in terms of miles or feet? |
