The entire civil legal system in the USA needs reform to prevent this sort of abuse. We can start by mandating that winning civil lawsuits requires the same burden of proof that is required for a conviction in a criminal case. That is, a defendant is presumed "not liable" until he or she is proved liable by way of evidence that meets the "beyond a reasonable doubt" legal definition. -- "At the moment of conception." |

Good luck with getting preponderance of the evidence ratcheted up to beyond a reasonable doubt. The deal is all but signed by the Senate to have the U.S. Atty General bring **AA copyright suits against alleged infringers. Oh, and if the $enate pa$$e$ this bill, our tax dollars will finance the lawsuits . On behalf of the **AAs. -- The Toll

 | DOJ enforce civil copyright claims will push it to "beyond a reasonable doubt" as well the right of jury trial |

Notwithstanding your naivete, these cases won't be converted from civil to criminal...if you read the substance of the bill in question, you'll see that they will -in fact- remain in civil court, except the **AAs want the DoJ to bring suit and police their alleged copyrights for them. Nothing changes but for the fact the **AAs questionable suits will now be financed on the taxpayer dime instead of their own. -- The Toll
