| reply to dadkins In the last few weeks, my upload speeds have improved from the nines to 10/11 levels, sometimes reaching 12-14 levels.
And I'm still on 16 QAM upstream modulation. |

A speed test would not show if it has or has not, a sustained download would though. Yes speed upgrade has taken place. I received a small flyer with my latest mailed statement showing blast service now in my area & further confirmed through a phone rep my account was upgraded to blast 16/2 with upload powerboost. Im near Sample Dr/US-1 in LH Point. |

| reply to robct QAM256 is referring to the downstream, the upstream will be a lower number, it will depend on the configuration in your area, and to what channel you're on. As modems sync up with the CMTS in the headend the routers distribute them to balance the load. Different channels may be running different standards, D1.1, D2, etc. Probably what you saw happen is they bumped a channel to D2 and you're on it... beyond that I'm not sure what other changes affect it in the headend. |

I still have the same config file, though: d11_m_sb5100_speedtier_c01.cm. SB5101 modem says QAM256. The 8/768 got upgraded to 8/2 sometime ago:
»Comcast Upload Speed Increase
If your area got the D3 upgrade then you also got another speed bump from 8/2 to 16/2 for free. |

1 edit | reply to dadkins I live in Waterbury, CT.
I pay for the 8Mbps/768Kbps package and have been consistently getting 20Mbps/2.5Mbps with PowerBoost for the past couple of months.
This morning I started getting around 20Mbps/5.5Mbps speeds all of the sudden. So it seems that while the download speeds have stayed the same, the upload has increased.
I'm not sure if this has any relationship with DOCSIS 3.0 or what, since I received an email in May about our area being "upgraded", although we haven't heard anything new about it since then.
I still have the same config file, though: d11_m_sb5100_speedtier_c01.cm. SB5101 modem says QAM256. |

Today I received an automatic message from Comcast informing me that my speeds have been doubled. So, I reset my old SB5100 (DOCSIS 2.0) and verified the new software. However, when I do the Sun Jave speed test from the forum tools section I get significantly different speeds than I do from outside sources. I have the original Comcast Performance tier that was 6/1. So what gives with the displayed tests?
The server is too busy right now so here is the last run to LA:
Last result: 9844/2937 Kbps -- The mind is not a vessel to filled, but a fire to be kindled. (Plutarch 46 - 120CE) |
